Arctic again

Zur Zeit bin ich mal wieder in Calgary und morgen geht mein trip durch die Arktis für  EM Messungen für die CryoVex Kampagne 2014 von der ESA los. Die Satelliten CryoSatII und SMOS von der ESA benötigen zusätzlichen Informationen für Validierung und Kalibrierung und deswegen werden einige Leute von einem Eiscamp MEssungen auf dem Eis machen, währendmehrere Flugzeuge mit verschieden Instrumenten entlang der Satellitentracks MEssungen aus der Luft machen. Da Christian auf dem Eis in einem der Camps ist, werde ich in einem der Flugzeuge sein und zusammen mit Alec die EM Messungen aus der Luft machen. Dafür haben wir eine Basler (ehemalige DC3) von Ken Borek Air gechartert, mit der wir bis Anfang April unterwegs sein werden. Wir sind schonen einen Tag hinter unserem Zeitplan aber morgen gehts endlich nach Inuvik und hoffentlich spielt das Wetter mit und wir können alle geplanten Messflüge durchführen.
 

Meine Reise im Rahmen dieser Kampagne wird so aussehen:
Calgary - Inuvik - Sachs Harbour - Resolute Bay - Station Nord (Grönland) - Alert - Station Nord - Resolute Bay - Calgary und dann zurück nach Toronto.

I'm in Calgary right now and in the next 3 weeks I will go around the Arctic for the CryoVex Campaign and 2014 from ESA to make airborne EM measurements with our Bird from a DC3. The Satelites CryoSatII and SMOS need validation and calibration data so there is going to be people on an ice camp to do ground measurements while several planes will be flying under the satelite tracks with various measurement methods on board. Since Christian (my Professor) is going to be on the ice camp, I will be operating the EM bird on our flights together with Alec. 
Right now we are in Calgary and already one day late due to some technical issues but we will be going to Inuvik tomorrow and hopefully we will be lucky with waether and able to do everything we have planned. We chartered a Basler (former DC3 from ) from Ken Borek Air and we will be with the plane until the first week of April.

My Arctic Reasearch Journey in the next three weeks:
Calgary - Inuvik - Sachs Harbour - Resolute Bay - Station North (Greenland) - Alert - Station North - Resolute Bay - Calgary and then back to Toronto.
